The Smoke Pit
The Smoke Pit fires up classic Southern barbecue in a lively, soulful environment. All of the sauces and sides are made fresh in-house every day for a unique taste that keeps the people coming back. They will smoke almost anything here and that includes brisket, ribs, and whole wings. The mac and cheese is a delicious hearty side to round out the meal, but don’t forget to sample the cornbread and collard greens as well.
Checkered Flag Barbecue
This diner-style BBQ joint is a nice addition to the Salisbury area, and they take their meats seriously. They make amazing chopped pork and beef sandwiches that are perfect for a quick lunch when you don’t want to be weighed down for the rest of the day. If you’re there in the evening be sure to try the beef brisket with a healthy side of their delicious slaw. The staff is fast and friendly, and the price is right.
Richard’s Bar-B-Q
Richard’s is another popular spot for east coast style BBQ. They do great chopped meat with your choice of sauces and sides. The service is quick and to the point, so you’ll never wait too long for your food. The sandwiches are awesome, and the meat has a vinegary flavor to it that is reminiscent of Lexington BBQ. Be sure to supplement your meal with a side of slaw and some savory hush puppies.
Hendrix BBQ*
This is a neat spot with a funky ambiance and upbeat vibe to it. They do smoky comfort food well here with their delicious pulled pork, beef brisket, and extravagant platters. Marlow’s Bar-B-Q
Another great BBQ spot in the area, Marlow’s also doubles as a seafood joint. There’s a lot on the menu and you won’t be disappointed with any of it. The pulled pork is succulent, and the chopped beef makes for an excellent sandwich. There aren’t many bells and whistles here, just good old-fashioned barbecue with great sides like the hush puppies, cornbread, baked beans, and tangy slaw. A true country-style staple in the area.
