Hoff’s Grill
This restaurant, located on West Innes Street, dishes out traditional American food: burgers, sandwiches, and hotdogs. While their menu may offer simple foods, they don’t offer simple flavors. Their deep-fried pork chop sandwich with mustard and slaw is delicious and pairs perfectly with a buttery cob of corn.
The Smoke Pit
The Smoke Pit is a southern barbeque joint. It has everything you’d expect from a southern BBQ joint–large portions and great barbeque–but there are some surprises, like tacos. Many of their side dishes are served with a twist, like their collards with corn, which is why The Smoke Pit stands out in the crowd. If you have a sweet tooth, they’ve got you covered. Try their banana pudding.
Sweet Meadow Cafe
You might not be able to go to Bourbon St, but you can bring a little of Louisiana to you if you order from the Sweet Meadow Cafe. They have a mix of traditional American food as well as Cajun and Creole food. The red crab dip is to die for and their double chocolate cake is as rich as New Orleans culture.
Mambo Grill and Tapas
This restaurant is bringing the taste of Cuba to North Carolina. Tapas (small plates) are great because they give you an opportunity to sample a lot of the menu and you’ll definitely want to sample much of what the Mambo Grill has to offer. Need some comfort food? Try their picadillo.
El Patron Mexican Grill and Cantina
You have a taste for Mexican food, El Patron Mexican Grill and Cantina delivers, literally. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant but offers some dishes that you don’t find in many similar restaurants. Their seafood soup, with huge crab legs, is a unique, delicious dish that you have to try. They also offer catering if you need to feed a large crowd.
Waters Edge Dock and Grill
You can find elevated, traditional American fare at the Water Edge plus a few extras like their decadent fettucini. Their pontoon poppers are crunchy and creamy and definitely deserve a place on your must-try list. And while this list is all about take-out and delivery, it would be a shame not to mention their beautiful, waterfront outdoor space.
Morgan Ridge Railway and Eatery
If you need some comfort food, you need Morgan Ridge Railway and Eatery. Nothing comforts like fried food, and this restaurant has perfected the art of deep-frying. Of course, they have non-fried food as well. Their grilled oysters are especially delicious.
