It spans 100 acres of land, making it the ideal space for hikers to explore. The pathways are surrounded by rural, picturesque woodlands. There are up to fifty native wildflowers that can be spotted in the forests, including rare flowers that are usually unique to the Appalachian Mountains.

Bird spotters, animal lovers, and reptile admirers can all be kept busy watching the wildlife. The heritage site is home to herds of deer, families of raccoons, and flocks of wild turkeys. In the spring and fall months, visitors have been known to catch sight of migrant birds in flight. It would be well worth packing a pair of binoculars to avoid missing out on a close-up view.
