The New Ford Maverick in Salisbury, NC
Ford is well-known in the automotive industry for its line of pickup trucks, and the automaker is adding a new option to the lineup. If you've been holding out for a smaller truck, be sure to take a look at the new Maverick.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Ford Maverick is an affordable pickup truck offered in three trim levels. These include XL, XLT, and Lariat. The four-door body style features a crew cab and a roofline that sits several inches lower than Ford's other truck models. With the base model, exterior features include black accents, LED headlights, halogen in-bed lighting, and steel wheels. The XLT trim adds alloy wheels and a power-locking tailgate. At the top of the list, the Lariat trim has a power-sliding rear window and upgraded accents. Ford also includes a bed-organizational system with all trims, which it refers to as its Flexbed feature, that enhances the storage capabilities of the bed. It includes options like storage shelves, a multi-height tailgate, adjustable in-bed rails, a tool cubby, and D-rings. Optional upgrades include an off-roading package, which bundles all-terrain tires, front tow hooks, and skid plates, as well as a spray-in bedliner.
Engine (Power)
Another appealing aspect of the new Ford truck is what's found beneath its hood. This model comes standard with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine paired with two electric motors. The hybrid powertrain puts out a combined 191 horsepower and provides impressive fuel efficiency for cost-conscious drivers. If you want more power, the truck is available with an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that pumps out 250 horsepower. When properly equipped, the Maverick can tow up to 4,000 pounds and accommodate up to 1,500 pounds of payload. If you opt for the hybrid powertrain, the towing capacity maxes out at 2,000 pounds.
Performance
Drivers who plan to use their Maverick for towing and hauling will be happy to know that this model comes with selectable driving modes, including a tow/haul setting that stiffens the steering and optimizes the performance of the engine. Adding the towing package is an option on all trim levels and includes a trailer brake controller, an upgraded radiator, a seven-pin pre-wired trailer connection, and an oil cooling system.
Interior
Even the base model of the Maverick comes well-equipped in the cabin, with comfort features like cloth upholstery, manual climate control, power accessories, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. On the tech side, standard equipment also includes an 8-inch touch screen with Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and FordPass Connect. With the XLT, standard features include upgraded upholstery and a rear central armrest with cup holders. You can also upgrade this model to include a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, all-weather floor mats, and heated front seats. Choose the top Lariat trim to get dual-zone automatic climate control and simulated leather upholstery.
Safety Features
All models of the Ford Maverick come with the Ford Co-Pilot360 bundle, which includes a list of impressive active safety features. The package includes automatic high beams, a rearview camera, and pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. Options include lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
