1. Salisbury-Rowan Farmers’ Market

From April 15 onwards, the farmers’ market will be open every Saturday from 8am to noon. Stop by to pick up the freshest local produce, including fruit, flowers, vegetables, meat, baked goods, and crafts. You might even catch some live entertainment, so head down to the Railwalk Pavilion at 228 East Kerr Street this weekend to take a look around.

2. 2023 Cheerwine Festival

As the birthplace of Cheerwine, it falls to South Salisbury to do something extra-special every year to celebrate the unique beverage. The Cheerwine Festival will be held downtown on May 20 at noon, and will give you plenty of opportunities to appreciate this firm southern favorite. There will be Cheerwine-inspired food, rare regional flavors, and historic memorabilia to view.

With lots of activities for the kids, over 50 vendor booths, and live music, you’re guaranteed a great afternoon and a chance to sample one of South Salisbury’s most famous exports.

3. Sounds of Salisbury Spring Concert Series

If there’s anything that can improve the park in springtime, it has to be live music. April 30 sees another concert from the Sounds of Salibury spring concert series at Bell Tower Green, 120 South Church Street. Beginning at 3pm and featuring local artists with a mix of jazz, blues, gospel, and soul, this is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

You’ll be able to fit several lawnchairs and a sizeable picnic in the trunk of your Ford Expedition Max. So come on down, get comfortable, and enjoy the sounds in the open air.

4. Dan Nicholas Park 

Located at 6800 Bringle Ferry Road, this is the ideal destination if you’re looking for a fun day out. As well as fishing and paddle-boats in the 10-acre lake, there’s a plethora of entertainments to enjoy, including mini-golf, tennis, volleyball, miniature train rides, a fresh-water aquarium and old-fashioned carousel. For wonderful family memories and photo opportunities galore, this is one of the best places to celebrate the spring.
