2020 Ford Mustang

The fastback coupe Mustang comes in five basic trims: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and Bullitt. The Mustang also has three Shelby 350 trims: the GT350, GT-350R, and the massively powerful GT500. When you want a convertible Mustang, you have that option in the EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, and GT Premium trims.

No matter how much power you want in your Mustang, you have plenty of powertrain options. Starting at the base is a 2.3-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Standard with this engine is a six-speed manual transmission or optional 10-speed automatic transmission. Both GT trims come with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The Bullitt also has a 5.0-liter V-8 engine but the horsepower increases to 480 and the torque stays the same at 420 pound-feet.The latter engines pair with the 10-speed automatic transmission. If you plan on taking your Mustang on the track, choose one of the Shelby GT models. Both the GT3500 and GT 3500R are equipped with Ford's 5.0-liter V-8 Coyote cross-plane crank engine that produces 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. When you want maximum speed and power, choose the Shelby GT500 with a 5.2-liter V-8 supercharged engine with an astonishing output of 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque. The Shelby GT trims pair with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Independent rear suspension provides superb handling when corning. The modernized chassis gives a comfortable ride. With the optional Performance Package, the electrically-assisted steering adjusts the handling depending on the terrain management mode. With the six-speed manual transmission, you get a limited-slip rear differential, and with both transmissions, the electronic line-lock and MagneRide damping system help to stabilize the Mustang at high speeds. Across the trims, the drivetrain is rear-wheel drive.

You can seat four people comfortably in the Mustang, except for the high-performance Shelby trims which only seat two. Cloth seats are standard and leather upholstery, optional six-way power-adjustable seats, and a heated steering wheel are optional. Cargo space ranges from 11.4 to 13.5 cubic feet, and the rear seats fold down when you need to carry longer items. Except for the base trim, the Mustang has the Sync 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are standard as well as satellite radio, and a nine-speaker stereo system. For the ultimate in listening pleasure, opt for the available 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

With a sports car as fast and powerful as the 2020 Mustang, it's nice to know that it comes with several optional safety features. Driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
