2020 Ford Escape

The 2020 Ford Escape is offered in five primary trim levels: the S, SE, SE Sport, SEL, and Titanium. The Titanium is also offered in hybrid and plug-in hybrid subtrims. The SE is also offered as a plug-in model. Exterior upgrades include the available hands-free power liftgate that makes loading a breeze, a panoramic Vista Roof that lets in natural light, and an SE Sport Premium Package that adds black accents for a sporty look.

The starting gasoline-exclusive option is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. The next step up is the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which delivers 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Both of these engines are matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both the conventional and plug-in hybrid models come equipped with 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines and electric motors that create a combined 165 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. This system is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission.

Properly equipped, the 2020 Escape can tow up to 3,500 pounds. The hybrid models are the way to go if you're focused on fuel economy, but even the gasoline-exclusive models offer fuel-saving features such as automatic engine start-stop technology. For a boost in confidence on slippery roads, choose a model equipped with the disconnecting all-wheel drive. The Escape's drive modes — including Eco, Snow/Sand, and Slippery — let you communicate with your Escape about what to expect from the road ahead.

The 2020 Ford Escape seats five in its roomy two rows.
