Ford vs Chevy: Battle of the Brands

Ford SUVThere’s no rivalry quite like Ford vs. Chevy… it’s up there with the likes of Coke vs. Pepsi and Batman vs. Superman. We want to give shoppers across Kannapolis, Lexington, and Mooresville a closer look at what these automotive brands bring to the table.

Considering a Ford or Chevy car? Once you’ve read this comparison, you’ll have a better understanding of where to turn for your next new ride. If you have any questions, reach out to us at Cloninger Ford, your Salisbury Ford dealership!

Ford vs Chevrolet: Exclusive Features

You’ll find many comparable features in Chevy and Ford cars, especially when it comes to technology and safety. Both brands have top-tier infotainment systems in the form of Chevrolet MyLink® and Ford SYNC® 3, which offer Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, as well as integrated navigation.

If you have teenage drivers in the family, you’ll find Ford MyKey® and Chevrolet Teen Driver useful. They let you set restrictions on speed, audio volume, and more to help drivers young and old build good driving habits.

Ford offers a range of exclusive passive safety features you won’t find in Chevy cars, including:

  • Personal Safety System™: This system uses sensors to monitor the size of passengers to smartly deploy airbags.
  • SOS Post-Crash Alert System™: This system flashes hazard lights and sounds the horn when the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners engage, alerting first responders to your location.

Brawn & Muscle: Battle of the Pickup Trucks

Chevy truckFord and Chevrolet put out two of the most perennially popular pickup trucks: the Ford F-Series and Chevy Silverado. You’ll find light-duty, heavy-duty, and super-duty variants of both, but which has the heft you need for the toughest jobs?

These two trucks are often neck-and-neck, but the F-150 has an advantage over the Chevy Silverado 1500. While the former can tow up to 13,200 pounds when properly equipped, the latter tops out at just 12,200 pounds. It’s an impressive figure, but it falls a bit behind.

Only the F-Series has a trim level specially tuned for the off-road trails: the Raptor. This trim level comes with the Ford Terrain Management System™, which adjusts driving dynamics to the ground that’s under your wheels. There’s no comparable system in the Chevy truck.

Style & Speed: Battle of the Pony Cars

The Ford vs. Chevrolet competition really heats up with the only true pony cars on the market today: The Ford Mustang and the Chevy Camaro. Both cars come in many vibrant colors that are sure to turn heads—and you can choose either car in a hardtop or convertible style.

You’ll find plenty of power under the hood, with more than 450 horsepower from both cars’ V8 engines. The Camaro’s high beltline and low roof hinder visibility in all directions. The Mustang is much easier to see out of, due to its larger windows (which also brighten up the cabin).

The Mustang’s trunk is larger, too, whether you choose the hardtop or convertible option. For that reason, you’ll find it a bit more practical when it comes to transporting groceries or carry-on bags.

Ford vs Chevy: Which Will You Choose?

At Cloninger Ford, we want to provide Kannapolis, Lexington, and Mooresville shoppers with all the info they need to choose their next vehicle. There are plenty of iconic cars from these two automotive giants, which makes it hard to judge a Ford vs. Chevy comparison.
