The reason city MPG ratings are lower than highway MPG ratings, is because you’re constantly braking and accelerating when traveling in towns and cities. When you’re driving on the highway, you’re generally maintaining one set speed which helps you save on gas and gives you a higher MPG rating.

Now it’s time to dive into the engine specs and performance features you can expect to find. The Mustang comes standard with a 2.3L EcoBoost® engine which produces 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. You’ll also find the standard 6-Speed Manual Transmission paired with this engine.

For something with a bit more oomph behind it, you can choose the available 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine, which is going to deliver 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque capabilities. This engine performs best when paired with the 6-Speed Manual Transmission with Rev Matching.

The available 5.2L V8 engine produces a whopping 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque capabilities. This engine comes standard in the Mustang Shelby GT350® trim level and is paired with the MagneRide® Damping System and TREMEC® 6-speed manual transmission, which delivers fast responsiveness to the terrain and road conditions you’re traveling on.

As you can see, the Mustang doesn’t compromise when it comes to powertrain capabilities.
