2020 Ford F-150 vs 2019 Ford F-150

2020 Ford F-150

For the toughest projects near Salisbury and Lexington, shoppers are turning to the full-size pickup truck segment. Popular with many drivers, the Ford F-150 is a force to reckon with on the roads of Kannapolis and Mooresville. Which model year, though, should you choose?

The 2020 Ford F-150 and the 2019 Ford F-150 are the two latest models of this truck. Similar in several ways, they also have some key differences. Our team at Cloninger Ford will help you dive into the details!

2020 vs 2019 F-150: New Combinations

2019 Ford F-150 When it comes to powertrains, the 2020 F-150 and the 2019 F-150 share many of the same components. They use the same engines and offer similar transmissions. However, components in the 2020 model are available in more combinations—and higher-end engines are available at lower trim levels.

The 2020 Ford F-150 has democratized the 10-speed automatic transmission by making it standard with all engines. The 2019 F-150 had used a 6-speed automatic transmission with its base V6 engine, but that transmission is no longer offered in the 2020 model.

With better acceleration at the low and mid ranges of the power band—plus five selectable modes—the 10-speed automatic transmission delivers improved performance and is a welcome presence on all trim levels!

Same Pickup Truck—Same Towing Specs

2020 Ford Towing Both the 2020 Ford F-150 and the 2019 Ford F-150 are part of a generation that began in model year 2015. They follow a major midcycle refresh that happened three years later, so they’re similar in almost every way. You’ll be happy to hear that includes capability.

Ready to ride into the wilderness with a camper trailer in tow? Need to move heavy equipment on the jobsite—or between sites? The 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine that’s available on both the 2020 and 2019 models helps your truck tow up to 13,200 pounds when properly equipped.

So many features help you tow safely, from Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ to BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Trailer Coverage. Exert more control over your truck as you tow!

Your Favorite Ford Technology Features

Ford F-150 Technology The 2020 F-150 offers the same advanced technology systems you’ll find in the 2019 F-150. These two trucks are virtually identical as far as connectivity and safety. Enjoy iconic Ford features, such as:

  • Ford Co-Pilot360™ (standard and available)
  • SYNC® 3 (available)
  • MyKey® (standard)

SYNC® 3 provides endless infotainment via an available 8-inch touchscreen. Swipe to access your maps, music, and messaging apps to add enjoyment and productivity to your drive.

Meanwhile, the Ford Co-Pilot360™ driver-assistance suite offers technology designed to keep you aware of the roads around you. It can help prevent and mitigate accidents in a range of driving scenarios.

2020 Ford F-150 vs 2019 Ford F-150: The Verdict

Salisbury and Kannapolis truck shoppers will find the 2020 and the 2019 F-150 identical in nearly every way that matters. If you value the performance enhancements of the 2020 model, choosing the newest version may make the most sense for you. The 2019 model remains a competitive option, however.
