2019 Ford Ranger Engine Specs
If you want your truck’s powertrain to have a nice balance between power and drivability, you’ll probably like what’s under the hood of the 2019 Ford Ranger.
This pickup hits the ground running with a 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission that optimizes gear progressions to deliver smooth, quick shifting.
These two components work together to boost the EPA-estimated fuel economy of 21 MPG city and 26 MPG highway.
It’s able to keep its city fuel economy high with help from standard auto start-stop technology. This feature powers down your engine when you’re stopped at a red light or in traffic. When you hit the accelerator, it’ll gently power back up again.
In addition to being efficient, the Ford Range powertrain is also strong, with a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds when properly equipped.
Handling Capabilities of the Ford Ranger
Adventure lovers will probably enjoy the available off-roading and traction control features that come with the 2019 Ranger. This includes an available electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) 4-wheel drive (4WD) system.
The ESOF system lets you manually change your drivetrain based on your needs. During dry highway cruising, stay in 2-wheel drive and enjoy improved fuel economy. If you need more traction, however, you can switch into 4WD High or Low to help you tackle tough terrain.
You can further optimize your performance with the available Terrain Management System™ that lets you choose between five different drive modes:
- Normal
- Grass
- Gravel/Snow
- Mud/Ruts
- Sand
The Terrain Management System works with the available Trail Control™ system to help you take on especially tricky conditions. This driver-activated system acts as a kind of low-speed cruise control, helping you slowly traverse across low-traction terrain while you focus your attention on steering and navigation.
Smart Safety Technology
While advanced handling features can help you succeed during your off-road adventures, the available Ford Co-Pilot 360™ suite can help you stay aware of your surroundings during everyday driving.
This includes features like:
- Lane-Keeping System
- Pre-collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
- Auto High-Beam Headlamps
- Cross-Traffic Alert
It also includes BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with trailer coverage. This smart safety system issues a visual cue via a light on your
As an additional assist, this system extends blind spot coverage along the length of the trailer, so that you can be more in-control when towing heavy loads.
