Ford Escape MPG
The Ford Escape really stands out in the crossover SUV segment. Salisbury and Mooresville drivers have been especially impressed with its cavernous cargo capacity and lithe handling. Some, however, want to learn more about the Ford Escape’s MPG fuel economy.
The Escape tops out with an EPA-estimated 23 city/30 highway MPG in its most efficient configuration. Our team at Cloninger Ford will lay out the details for Lexington and Kannapolis shoppers, below! Contact us today for more information.
Fuel Economy: The Details
There are three engines in the lineup and two drivetrains, resulting in five possible MPG ratings for your Escape. The standard 2.5L Duratec 4-cylinder pairs with front-wheel drive (FWD) to deliver 21 city/29 highway MPG. It’s an excellent start for this compact SUV.
The available 1.5L EcoBoost® 4-cylinder is the most efficient engine. Paired with FWD, it sees the top fuel economy for the model, with 23 city/30 highway MPG. This engine can also pair with the Intelligent 4-Wheel-Drive (4WD) System to deliver 22 city/28 highway MPG.
The range-topping engine? It’s a 2.0L Twin-Scroll EcoBoost® 4-cylinder. You’ll enjoy faster acceleration will solid fuel economy: 22 city/29 highway MPG with FWD and 21 city/27 highway MPG with 4WD. These are all EPA estimates, and your actual mileage may vary.
Escape Efficiency: Technology Features
How does the Ford Escape achieve such exceptional fuel economy? It’s equipped with many features that help the engines run more efficiently. Among them is Auto Start-Stop Technology, which comes standard on both EcoBoost® engines.
This feature conserves fuel by automatically shutting off the engine when you slow to a stop. Take your foot off the brakes, and the engine will kick back on again, ready for swift acceleration. This feature saves lots of fuel if you often find yourself in stop-and-go traffic.
An Eco drive mode enhances your efficiency, too. By monitoring gear changing and anticipating conditions and speeds on the road, it can optimize your performance for fuel economy.
Even More Performance Specifications
Fuel economy is only half the equation. You want a potent powertrain for robust and responsive driving. The Escape delivers on that count with any of its three 4-cylinder engines. Let’s look at the output specs below:
- 2.5L Duratec: 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque
- 1.5L EcoBoost®: 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque
- 2.0L Twin-Scroll EcoBoost®: 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque
As you might imagine, the 2.0L EcoBoost® really impresses with off-the-line acceleration. You’ll merge into faster traffic with ease. This engine can even tow up to 3,500 pounds with an available towing package equipped. Hitch up a cargo trailer or a couple of jet skis!
